About Me

I'm Diego Costa, born in 1991 in Brazil, and I genuinely appreciate you stopping by and wanting to know more about me. For me, photography is my way of keeping what I live through, and I have no pretension of turning it into anything bigger than that.

It all started on a trip. At some point, I felt the need to keep that moment for posterity, but shooting with my phone didn't give me the control I felt I needed to capture the moment not just as I was seeing it, but as I was feeling it. That's when I bought my first camera, and I've been teaching myself ever since, through trial and error, with no formal classes and, more importantly, no rush.

Rushing and impostor syndrome have always been the villains in my life and in my career in tech, which was also born from a hobby. But this time I want to do it differently: photography will be my safe place, a place of peace, with no pressure attached.

I photograph nature and travel; what I look to capture changes depending on the place. Every once in a while, a few strangers end up in front of my lens when I feel their cultural expression speaks to me somehow; other times, I do everything I can to keep them out of my frame and let the surroundings speak for themselves.

In the end, these photos aren't meant to impress anyone. They're my way of holding on to memory, and remembering not just where I've been, but who I was in each of those places.

This page is also a message to my future self: don't put pressure on yourself, this is here for the fun of it.
